Yahoo! Living Tribute: Tile Not Found

A friend of mine submitted this tile. I saw it this morning. It was up less than 12 hours ago. Let me describe it for you.

It was a peace symbol. With the words, "Bush Knew". That was it.

Apparently, the words they put in its place are the Orwellian future we have all entered.

Yahoo! is committed to a spirit of tolerance and hope that reflects the World Wide Web at its best and the many voices of its citizens.

We are doing our best to ensure that all tiles respect that spirit. If we are notified of potential abuse we reserve the right to remove inappropriate messages.

If you feel that this tile was removed in error, we sincerely apologize.

Apparently, a peace symbol and an expression that Bush might not be the bestest president ever is not in the "spirit of tolerance and hope that reflects the World Wide Web at its best and the many voices of its citizens."

Yahoo meets Orwell. Nice. I understand that this is not true censorship, as censorship can only be practised by a government. But it is indeed an ironic thing to do on this day, with those words.

Shame, Yahoo. Shame.
